Rome is the host of most, if not the best travel destinations in the world. It’s not only a tourist attraction destination but the home of treasures.
Among the places of interest in Rome is the famous Vatican City. Take a walk through the cobblestone streets of Trastevere. While you do that, you could also enjoy some delicacies. Mercado Centrale Roma is an excellent place to eat.
The first point of attraction in Rome is the famous Colosseum. It’s an amphitheater that hosts up to 65,000 spectators. The Colosseum once hosted the Gladiators battles and wild animals at the Colosseums arena.
Trevi fountain is also a nice spot. The fountain is the most famous. Located in the Piazza do, Trevi the baroque fountain was built in the 18th century. The Trevi fountain has a popular habit of people tossing a coin in it. The belief is anyone who throws a coin will one day return to Rome. The fountain displays the Neptune while on his chariot and the god of the sea.
In memory of Roman times, a Pantheon is also a place of interest. The place was handed over to the pope and is currently a church. It has a funerary monuments. Such monuments include; the open dome (oculus), painter Raphael, and Italian kings.
Rome is also the host of the spiritual center of the catholic church with St.peter’s Basilica located there. This gives Rome a special attraction for catholic tourists. The Basilica is located in Vatican city close to St. Peters square, which is said to be the Grave of Peter.
The Vatican museum and Sistine chapel is also an attraction site. It has great paintings, including religious relics and roman objects. The site of Conclave on the Sistine chapel is a point of attraction because its the first site when a pope appears when elected.
